- Producing very swift meteors (40 miles/sec),
- the Aquarids are believed to be derived
- from none other than Halley's comet. They
- generate long, glowing trails, many bright
- meteors, often yellow. The rates may exceed
- 40/hour. The Aquarids are best seen in
- the Southern hemisphere. The Orionids in
- October are believed to be from the same
- meteor stream, crossing our orbit a
- second time.
